DENTAL

Katayama 2000 Figure 5

The tactile sensor indicated that increases in stiffness (decreases in the slope of the tangent of the hysteresis curve) and decreases in elasticity (increase in the residual deformation) of the masseter muscle on the mastication side were proportional to the number of masticatory cycles, which were measured at 0, 50, and 100 cycles.

From Katayama H., Inada J.  Evaluation of muscle fatigue in the masseter muscle using a tactile sensor. [English abstract, graphs and tables] Shika Igaku (Journal of the Osaka Odontology Society), 2000 Mar; 63 (1): 23-32. Katayama 2000 Japanese

PROSTATE

DfS (mean±SEM, N = 10) for stiffness vary with the six measurement sites on a slice of prostate tissue.  Low SEM indicates that the results are reproducible.   TissueMix according to histological investigation and eqn. 6 are represented by dots.  Softer tissue results in a greater negative frequency shift. FC = 87.6 ± 1.0mN (mean±SD, N = 90).

SKIN

Mixture A contains water, alcohol, and moisturizing lotion. Mixture B contains only water and alcohol. Each liquid was applied to the inner forearm of each subject.  Figures 5 and 6 show a direct relationship between skin hardness, as measured in terms of change of frequency, and amount of skin moisture.
