This system can be equipped
with different types of Biosensors, such as the Catheter-Type or the Needle-Type, for
various research purposes to obtain highly accurate stiffness measurements of samples,
including extremely small ones. The system's motor, which is computer-controlled, drives
the arm, to which the Biosensor is attached, vertically in order to effect depression in
minimum increments of 1 mmm, from a minimum depth of 25 mmm to a maximum depth of 25 mm. The tray with the sample to be
measured rests on a scale which records the resulting pressure in minimum increments of 1
mg.The platform on which the scale
rests can be manipulated in any X-Y direction by rotating the dials below it.
Additionally, the entire section in which the actuator and the arm for sensor attachment
are located can be vertically adjusted for the Z direction. Thus, any portion of the
sample can be measured without handling the tray. |
